How long does a bottle last on a propane camp stove?

Question by crazy4eachother: How long does a bottle last on a propane camp stove?
I’m only going camping for 2 nights/3 days, we’re going to grill most of our food.

I only need the stove for breakfast… so 2 mornings
even for one of those little green bottles?

You should have plenty left over- 2 mornings is nothing for a propane tank

one bottle will be plenty those bottles burn on low for around 4 hours.

One burner lit will last about 6 to 8 hours

A 16.4 ounce canister of propane “should” last for 4 to 6 hours depending on the stove you are using it on and how high or low you have the flames adjusted to.

I would suggest you take a spare canister along, just in case! If it is rainy, and you decide that trying to get a fire started and keep it going is going to be a problem, you may want to just fire up the propane stove for something quick and easy.

I have seen canisters of propane being sold for twice what they typically cost in a sporting goods or hardware store.

I have used Coleman brand and store brand with no noticeable difference in performance.

depends on how big the propain tank is. if it’s one of those big tanks that you get at gas stations, you have nothing to worry about. small ones, it matters on how many times your going to use it. if your planning to cook most of the food on it, then i would bring 2 maybe 3 tanks. you just don’t know what will happen.

take 2 they leak and you might not close the bottle tight enough or too tight 1 would be enough if the budget is tight. I do have a suggestion I do not take cooking pans camping if you cant cook it on the grill or in the can don’t I/we clean enough at home the cooking forks cook sausage for breakfast just fine I don’t even take Charcol with me we/I use Wood available but take the grill. luck
